Ford has recently unveiled the production-ready Transit Custom Mild-Hybrid at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hannover, Germany. With an uprated 185ps 2.0Litre Eco Blue diesel and mild hybrid powertrain.
The Ford Transit Custom MHEV is designed for urban-based van operators who can benefit most from electric capability and ultra-low emissions.
The first of its kind
Ford never shying away from breaking technological boundaries, the multinational manufacturer is now bringing that approach to its commercial vans. The new mild-hybrid engine isn’t just a first for the Ford Transit, but the first medium van to feature a mild hybrid system.
Cleaner for business
The all-new Transit Custom mHEV shares and benefits from the same technology as the Ford Transit PHEV. By recovering and storing energy that would otherwise be lost, the van can use recycled energy from the battery to power it’s electric components.
The energy recovered can be stored in the 48V lithium-ion battery and re-used when needed. By recycling unused energy, the Ford Transit MHEV uses less fuel and offers a cleaner drive.
